๐ง Beyond the "8 Glasses" Myth
The "8x8 rule" is a great starting point, but it's not a one-size-fits-all solution. A 250lb athlete in a hot climate needs significantly more water than a 130lb office worker in the winter.
๐ The Hydration Formula
A more accurate way to calculate your baseline is: Weight (lbs) ร 0.5 = Ounces per day.
- Example: A 160lb person should aim for 80 ounces (around 2.5 liters).
๐ Activity Multipliers
For every 30 minutes of intense exercise, add another 12 to 15 ounces of water. If you are sweating heavily, consider adding electrolytes to maintain your body's salt balance.
๐ก Monitor the Color: The easiest way to check your hydration is your urine color. Aim for "pale straw" yellow. Anything darker means you need to reach for your water bottle!
